2018 501(c)3 VOTER REGISTRATION & TURNOUT INVESTMENT OPPORTUNITIES
Below is a list of the most effective, evidence-based, tactics shown to increase voter registration and civic participation of under-represented constituencies, including people of color, single women and young people - and how with your help and investment we could implement those tactics in Tennessee in 2018.
FUNDING PRIORITY 1: VOTER REGISTRATION BY MAIL
Unregistered, under-represented communities, primarily people of color, unmarried women, and young people receive a social-pressure style mail piece to motivate registration and pre-stamped return envelope to complete their registration.
Expand the reach of this project and your investment and be matched dollar for dollar up to $45,000 by donors.
FUNDING PRIORITY 2: PROUD VOTER CHALLENGE & TEXT MESSAGING FOR PARTNERS
The Proud Voter Challenge builds and supporters a coalition of nonprofit organizations, community and civic groups with relationships in underrepresented communities (people of color, single women & young people) and provides every partner organization in Tennessee with access to their own lists of:
- unregistered voters
- and low propensity voters (who vote typically in Presidential elections but not midterms) in their community, and
- with the technical resources and training to reach them with behavioral-science tested messages proven to increase voter registration, and participation.
This "Civic Engagement Table" is based on successful, proven models in dozens of states across the country - and it works, because empowering organizations and people in their own communities to reach, register and turn out their own constituencies is how you begin to build infrastructure capable of sustaining ongoing voter registration and mobilization beyond a single midterm election.
